What Changes the Cost?

  • Tank replacement: system capacity, removal of the old tank, excavation, site access and waste disposal.
  • Treatment system and polishing filter: the assessed design, equipment, installation and ongoing servicing requirements.
  • Percolation area works: assessment results, available land, pipework, ground conditions and reinstatement.
  • Professional and approval costs: surveys, design work, any necessary permissions, documentation and applicable VAT.

Ask an independent professional to assess your site. Check what is included, who handles waste collection, whether VAT and reinstatement are included, and what happens if unexpected ground conditions change the price. Confirm warranties, payment terms and any cancellation rights with the contractor before agreeing work.

Grants May Reduce Approved Costs

Eligible homeowners may receive up to 85% of approved costs, capped at €12,000. This is subject to council approval and the scheme conditions; it is not a guaranteed discount on your contractor’s invoice. Routine servicing and emptying are excluded.
